Jesus told us, "Love your enemies." One way to show love to our enemies is to treat them with kindness, politeness, courtesy, and respect. Jesus expects us to treat our enemies with kindness, politeness, courtesy, and respect.

Jesus also told us, "By their fruits you shall know them." Jesus wants us to make good decisions and good judgments and not be fooled by people who are evil or ignorant or confused.

Jesus wanted us to treat everyone with kindness but that does not mean we have to believe everything everyone says.

Part of true tolerance means we treat persons with respect and allow them the right to think their own thoughts. Part of tolerance also means we treat persons with respect when they try to explain their thoughts to us. This does not mean that we are required to agree with their thoughts.

If someone tells you, "There is no truth." Then point out to him that, if that statement were true, then even the very statement, "There is no truth." must also not be true. This is a self-contradicting statement and so it is totally absurd. Any person who claims, "There is no truth." also must not be true. Such a person is confused and does not even know he is confused.

One of the reasons why America has been able to become so prosperous and strong goes back to the tolerance philosophy of the founders of the American nation. Our founding fathers really accepted the philosophy: "I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
